Limo Energy delivers smarter EV charging infrastructure by integrating solar, storage, and EV Charging.

We tackle the hardest challenges in the EV transition: grid constraints, costly upgrades, unreliable charging, and complex installations. Our philosophy of “Making the energy transition fairer, faster, cleaner” drives everything we do.

Since 2019 we’ve been transforming how organisations deploy renewable energy solutions – first with multi-megawatt solar car parks, and now with our Papilio3 smart charging hubs, which rapidly deliver affordable, reliable and commercially viable EV charging infrastructure when and where it’s most needed.

We’ve been a certified B Corp for just over one year, joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit. Limo Energy was certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, for having met rigorous social and environmental standards that represent its commitment to goals beyond shareholder profit. We were extremely proud to achieve a B Impact ranking of 98.9!

We use our unique three technology (“3t”) approach, integrating solar, batteries and EV charge points to help organisations to generate onsite renewable energy from their existing sites, rooftops and car parks to reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions.

We’re proud to be one of the earliest customers of ChargeSafe™, incorporating best practices for personal safety, security and PAS1899 accessibility, with a score of 4.09 out of 5 for our first ever inspection.

Where It All Began

In May 2022, Limo Energy unveiled Papilio3, the world’s first smart solar EV charging hub, installed at the Surrey Research Park in Guildford.

As a local business, Limo Energy partnered with the University of Surrey to benefit from the Research Park’s dynamic, innovation-driven environment and alignment with the university’s Living Lab initiative. Home to over 200 businesses, including global names like Airbus and BAE Systems, the park’s focus on sustainability and its community of over 4,500 staff provided the ideal location to test Papilio3 in real-world conditions. This successful collaboration set the stage for Papilio3’s ongoing development and impact as a game-changing energy solution.

Our History

Since 2019, Limo Energy has been transforming how organisations deploy renewable energy solutions—bringing together the three core technologies: solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging. We began with large-scale solar car parks and have since evolved to offer our innovative Papilio3 smart solar EV charging hubs.

Limo Energy has become one of the UK’s leading specialists in the design, installation, financing, and operation of Solar Car Parks (SCPs), as well as rooftop and ground-mount solar systems.

Members of the Limo Energy team have been at the forefront of the solar car parking sector since 2017, delivering some of the UK’s most significant solar installations—including the two largest solar car parks at Bentley Motors in Crewe (1,378 spaces, 2.7 MWp) and JP Morgan’s UK campus in Bournemouth (880 spaces, 2.4 MWp).

In 2023, we completed the UK’s first NHS solar car park at Eastbourne Hospital, covering 456 parking spaces with an installed capacity of 1.1 MWp.

Our portfolio also includes a 2.2 MWp rooftop system at Bentley Motors in Crewe, a 0.8 MWp installation at RC Treatt in Bury St Edmunds, and a 1.4 MWp rooftop system at Atlas Copco in Deeside.

In total, we’ve installed 17.6 MWp of solar PV capacity across the UK. The knowledge and experience gained from these projects have been fed directly into the development of Papilio3—our freestanding EV solar car park.

By combining solar generation, optional battery storage, and smart microgrid energy management, Papilio3 represents the next evolution in sustainable transport infrastructure—quickly delivering clean, reliable EV charging for our workplace, destination, and fleet customers.
